Paul Bedell of Korbella™ contacted me, and with one single sentence he had my full attention : “From our pieces of Paris to yours”. These are my pieces of Paris… but… What are his?
Small, wonderful, almost magical little “jewels” cut from an actual piece of the Eiffel Tower, and integrated into stylish and elegant pieces of fashion jewelry in sterling silver, vermeil (gold plated silver) or rhodium. Paul wanted to generously offer me a piece for review, because he felt that his jewelry line and concept fit perfectly with my site. He couldn’t have been more right.
Hosted at Café Madam, sponsored by Vaïvaï coconut water and Lillet cocktails, Olivia invited a fabulous group of friends, fans and bloggers to celebrate the cumulation of all her hard work. She was dressed from head to toe by Bineta Sanor who makes African prints clothing designs, and Olivia was of course draped in all her bling and glory!
So the Prête-Moi Paris 4 year blogiversary fête was a hit and a success. Complete with a vintage fashion show, champagne, and a raffle for prizes, it was a feast of pink fluff, cupcakes and DIY!
Sion of Paris Imperfect and Gail of Perfectly Paris ; Meg of De Quelle Planète Es-Tu? Lisa of Ella Coquine Mary Kay of Out And About in Paris and Patricia of Patricia Parisienne have all written posts on the event. Thanks ladies! You make me sound waaay too fab! *blushing*
It was a fabulous gathering of our little blogging community in Paris, most of us expats, but a Frenchy and a best friend or two and the crowd was well mixed albeit largely feminine (yeah girl power!). Chéri high-tailed it far away for the evening. Something tells me all those pink puff scared him a little. But being the absolute chéri that he is, he helped me clean up every last sequin sparkle and cupcake crumb when it was all over. I am truly a lucky woman.
My little pink blog is four years old this month. I can hardly believe that it has been so long already! Hmm actually, yes I can believe it. For such an simple and sweet publication it certainly demands a lot of my attention and energy… not always abundant when working a full time job as well.
But I haven’t given it up because it gives me such satisfaction and is my instantaneous creative gratification. Plus I get to share MY Paris with all of you! ♥
Tonight I am having a little fête to celebrate these past four years of Fashion, bubbly, gourmandise and DIY blogging in Paris, with a handful of bloggers and friends. And to share the love, I am showcasing a few friends’ brands at the party : Vintage Galerie, Kasia Dietz bags, Mon Champagne, Sugar Daze cupcakes and Cleopatra’s Bling.
Joyeux anniversaire Prête-Moi Paris!
Here’s to many more….
What better combo is there than fun and pretty things to wear and cupcakes? Ok, I COULD think of a few other combinations that are even more fabulous, but this one is up in the top ten list! Mlle Olivia Cummings of Cleopatra’s Bling hosted a private sale recently at the Sugar Daze cupcake shop in the 9th.
August, the month of the “Aoûtiens” as the French call it. Meaning, those who take their vacation holiday in August. The “Juilletistes” are the ones who head out of town in July. I am an “Aoûtienne”. I like having my vacation end at the end of the final Summer month. (I consider September a Fall month even though Summer usually extends itself well into it). And so as I go from Parisian to vacationer… it seems only natural to express that metamorphosis in style. I get to shed the city clothes for a more relaxed wardrobe in which I intend to shed off the fatigue accumulated this past year. But, try as you might, you can’t remove the city girl style completely, even when on a Summer escapade with Chéri. Continue reading

As any self respecting gay man will tell you, creating a harmonious outfit can be a casse-tête. People always ask me “Frank, why does it take you four hours to get dressed for any given soirée?” Well, I will tell you, everything in the outfit has to flow, from the colors, to the texture, to how everything shapes to your body, to the scent that you are wearing. Choosing a perfume or a cologne should be an important decision, not just : “Well, I wore this one yesterday, so I’ll wear that one today”. Whether it is perfume or cologne (eau de toilette for men) really shouldn’t be an important factor, because perfume and cologne are actually two different chemicals comparable to the sun and the moon, it’s not just that perfume is for ladies and cologne is for men. Perfume is stronger scented and cologne is lighter.
I had the awesome opportunity to review four delightful “Eau de toilette” scents created by la maison Detaille. Now, this article was a challenge for me, because I have never before reviewed a perfume, so strategy was hard. The first idea I had was to go into a gay bar and scream in French “Hey! Who wants to smell me?” But, after careful consideration, I decided against that one. So, the plan for this article comes with the strategy of a stylist. I am going to show you my thought process into choosing the perfect perfume or cologne to complete your outfit.
C’est parti ! Continue reading
As a Paris expat blogger, I am always happy to let you all know about my other fellow expat friends and bloggers. I am thrilled to present you with two fabulous ladies today!
Invited into her home where she also runs her office, I was immediately doused in an enthusiastic South Asian welcome with wide smiles mixed with a European refinement and style. Marjorie was comfortably yet elegantly dressed and coiffed nicely with a bit of makeup to enhance her already beautiful features. She gestured with her long graceful arms towards the lovely living room where she had laid out a wide array of her clutches for me to admire. She was quite easy to speak with instantaneously, full of discreet panache and brimming with a sunny disposition. I liked her immediately.
