Jukeboxes, slot machines, gum ball machines, gasoline pumps, Limoge porcelain statuetes of the Statue of Liberty made for the bicentennial of the USA in 1976, traffic lights, telephones, Coca Cola machines… these are just a few of the tings you’ll find at Vintage Gallery.
Patrick Guérin has a fantastic place on the boulevard Pereire in the 17th. An incredible collection filling every square meter of his gallery. I have been wanting to visit it for some time, but as I walk by it normally on my way home after opening hours, I usually satisfy myself with a little “lèche vitrine“. This time I happened by in the afternoon. Patrick is celebrating his 20th year there this year. Pretty fantastic for privately owned gallery in the 17th. But even better : he has decades more than that in Americana, artifacts, vintage objects and amazing things to decorate your life with. Vintage Gallery : Number 17 bld Pereire 75017 Paris. Tel : +33 (0)6.09.17.52.50. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 3pm-7pm or upon appointment. Continue reading
Chéri and I went out to play on the last day of the carnival at the Grand Palais. It was a sugar-coated-colorful afternoon of playful diversion from daily life. I toted along my camera, knowing full well I was going to want to snap pictures like crazy. And I did. I have more in the flickr album if you don’t get enough here on the blog! Enjoy my shots and let me know which ones are your top three favorites in the comments below.

I hope you sparkle, I
hope you have fun,
I hope your glass is raised with friends
and I hope when it’s done,
someone has kissed you
and wished you
the warmest of cheers,
because you all deserve the bestest,
With love, from Paris
Gathering a slew of Paris bloggers and personalities for a coupe or two of bubbly at a fashion boutique on the Faubourg Saint Honoré, seemed like a fabulous idea to me. Sign me up!
Towards the end of November Girls Guide to Paris threw a cocktail party at the Michael Kors boutique on the Faubourg Saint Honoré to promote their GO Card wich gives you exclusive access and discounts around Paris….what a fabulous place to have a coupe and mingle with other expats, bloggers and fashion people… Continue reading
I was invited to join a fun and delightful tour with a new company called Wonderful Time. They were in the final stages of testing their tours, and asked me to join a group (thanks to Pamela of francophilia who put me in touch with them, and who joined me on the tour) for a tour of Coco. THE Coco.
So thrilled have attended this luxe and sparkling soirée hosted by two fabulous ladies : New York transplant, Paris expat, the fabulous, the hilarious, the bubbly Lisa of Ella Coquine; and native-New Yorker, author and absolute doll Cara of The Champagne Diet. She is a best selling author and life coach from New York City who encourages women to live their most effervescent lives and celebrate themselves and this was her first trip to Paris! OMG!
What better way to celebrate such a life event than with a champagne party.
Even after 11 years here, I can still find myself lost in translation. Seriously.
Sometimes my colleagues will toss a joke or an idiom my way, and it flies waaaaay over my head. I
don’t always almost never get the French punchline or the underlying meaning. But I always ask, because my fake pretend-I-get-it laugh is really really fake.
So I am rather enjoying the new campaign by iDBUS for their one year anniversary. They are also offering a competition on their facebook page. Contribute your story of how you’ve been #LostInTranslation and perhaps you’ll win a iDBUS ticket to a destinatin of your choice! Continue reading
Sometimes, no, OFTEN, Paris takes you by surprise and offers you such magical gifts… like pink sunsets over the river Seine on an evening impromptu “picnic” (take-out Chinese food) at the waters edge with a dear friend to laugh with you, ponder life with you, and take awesome pictures with you! I saw this little concept floating around the bloggosphere, and thought it would be a great way to promote some of my favorite blogs!
How does this award work?!? Continue reading
