A Seat On Top of Paris

Rooftop Terrace of Le Printemps, Paris

There are certain sunsets that happen over the city of Paris where I wish I could have a view over the rooftops…
Rooftop Terrace of Le Printemps, Paris

Well, I do. I have a seat, and so do you!  On top of Le Printemps Haussman, on a café terrace with a beverage in hand, to enjoy the incredible panoramic view.

I randomly headed there to have a look one day after work, when I felt like having a little peek at this terrace that I had yet to explore. It’s not as exclusive as ones I have experience, so perhaps not as chic, but who cares, it’s open to all and it still has an amazing view that you JUST CAN’T BEAT. Continue reading

Little Paris Tips

I have a few fun updates about some things I love in Paris :

I posted about this bubbly brand back in 2012, but did you know that Mon Champagne now delivers, in Paris, in less than three hours?!? I mean we all know how bad a champagne emergency is, right?!?!? LOL! Okay, all kidding aside, who wants to lug six bottles of champagne home in a caddie on the metro? Pas moi. Plus the delivery guys (on bicycles = they are in shape) are claimed to be hot! Hmmmm… this could be a new way to meet a French man for you single ladies out there!

Aaaand, EVEN MORE EXCITING is the Champagne Box. My friends over there are crowd funding to launch the product so hop on board and offer Mon Champagne your support. This is going to be awesome when it launches. Plus for your contribution, you can have cool stuff! http://kisskissbankbank.com/champagne-box You have until the 14th of May to participate!

The Carreau du Temple, that I fell in love with last year, is now having it’s grand opening (they seem to have had a few non-grand openings, but this one seems to be the big one). April 25-27th. The event is a weekend surrounding the body with : music, dance, “voguing”, fashion, design, shows, martial arts … and more.

Seine Scene in the Pink

Priceless Paris continues to launch and relaunch seasons of exciting adventures in Paris. Here is the access to the current season of their partnership with MasterCard …

I blogged about a darling little café quiiiiiite some time ago. Le Village café in the 10th, now has an online boutique. Thought I would share that with you all.

Spring Restaurant : Merci Monsieur Rose!

Spring Restaurant ParisI probably would never have treated myself to such an extravagant meal had it not been for my very good friend, Alana, who is also a connoisseur of fine cuisine and has a palate that would challenge most of the well-known food critics out there (whomever they are). We wanted to have a girls’ dinner out and wanted something that screamed “indulgence” but did not want to skimp on food quality. Not an easy feat with my dairy intolerance. so when I called up Spring and asked them if they could accommodate someone with a dairy allergy, and they said “oui” I squeaked with such joy, Alana told me I sounded like I had won the lottery. I NEVER would have EVER thought that such a posh restaurant would be willing to modify their whole menu just so I could eat there. (I later found out one of the reasons why they were so willing to accommodate).

A Parisian Restaurant with Friendly Service!

Le Clan Des Jules

Le Clan Des Jules - Restaurant We found this fantastic little place on rue Brochant in the 17th. It has everything you would want on a cold dreary winter evening when you go out for dinner : warm colored décor, interesting and appetizing menu, friendly service, good wine, and a fun theme to the whole thing!
So the theme is a sort of tongue-in-cheek way of saying it’s a mob owned restaurant. It isn’t, that’s just the theme. From the vintage items strategically placed around the restaurant, to the 1920’s mobster machine gun racked up on the wall, to the bullet casings lined up on one of the shleves; even one of the menu items played into the theme : on the dessert menu the last choice was “Rien, le parrain m’attend 0€” (Nothing, the godfather is waiting for me 0€).

We were set in a cozy corner, and although when we got there were only the second table to fill, in about 30 minutes there was not a single table empty… (all French people, no tourists) and it was a week night! Thank goodness we reserved. I highly suggested doing the same if you want to head there for a meal.

Before Winter’s End…

winter lounge at the Westin. Before Winter’s end, I thought I should perhaps share with you this charming and cozy spot that Chéri and I had drinks at a few weeks ago. The Westin hotel has a bar that I like to go to in the winter, but they added a Winter garden this year. In their atrium that is open to the sky they installed cozy heat laps, faux lawn, faux furs on the chairs, and poof! it’s a magic winter wonderland to have a cocktail and pretend you are on an outdoor terrace at some ski mountain. The only thing missing this year : the snow. New england got dumped upon, but all we got was rain after the météo had crossed the Atlantic. Continue reading

Treize – New Secret Spot in Paris

Treize Laurel Sanderson was one of the founders of the wildly successful Sugarplum Cake Shop and was the heart, soul, and sunshine of their tea salon… We were all sad when she left the Paris baking/eatery scene, but that didn’t last long! She’s baaaaaaack! And she has created her own little place that is full of her contagious and addictive charm and warm cheerful hospitality, serving up her fantastic recipes for lunch and brunch, and that amazing carrot cake she is so well known for.

Poo-Pooing the Kong Restaurant

Kong Restaurant After seeing the amazing David Hallberg dance the Sleeping Beauty prince… Chéri brought me to the Kong for dinner. We thought we would make a fabulous night of it and eat at what I assumed would be a swanky and chic address with amazing fusion food. (I had been to the bar for drinks this summer and had some grand illusions about dining out there).

So the swanky part was not to be denied. The place is prime Parisian real-estate. But the sparkle of all that was so tarnished by the down sides that it didn’t seem as fabulous as one would expect from an establishment that boasts presence in a Sex and the City episode. Continue reading

Bagelstein in the chic quartier!

image It’s Like New York has landed in Paris all of a sudden! (But suffice it to say that Paris is sweetly infiltrating New York as well). There are eateries and bistro joints popping up all over that have an authentic NYC/Brooklyn style to their charm. And frankly, I am not opposed since these two cities seem to have a little love affair with each other. Bagelstein is a lovely little franchise and can be found in several cities in Paris, and in several neighborhoods in Paris. It has arrived finally close to my work, which means I can indulge occasionally at lunch. Continue reading

Buvette Gastrotheque

Buvette Gastrotheque - basket

This Fall and Winter, you may run into me at the Buvette Gastrothèque

I stumbled upon this place which is located on one of my favorite streets in Paris, rue Henri Monnier, while I was heading to a Cleopatr’as Bling private sale at Sugar Daze Cupcakes just a few doors down. I stopped in my tracks as I passed by the open door. It was the ceiling that got me. A carved tin ceiling. a rarity in Paris. It’s more of a New York thing. And well guess what, this ceiling was made based upon the ceiling of the Buvette Gastrothèque in the West Village of Manhattan. Yep, the owners of the ultra-trendy-eatery-where-you-can-bump-into-famous-people spot in NYC have followed their hearts to Paris! Continue reading

Bar Le Bloc

image It’s one of the trendiest bars/cafés in the Batignolles quarter of Paris. Why? Cause the cool people go there, and they aren’t afraid to bring a kid or two! That’s how they roll in 75017. Mmm hmm. :-p

No but really, this neighborhood is full of young couples or young couples with kids, and they are trendy, busy, chill, chic but not too chic, and completely connected. So if you live in this ‘hood you must make an appearance at this address, preferably with a slew of hip friends, a Zadig & Voltaire hand bag, and Viktor & Rolf threads. (Do we still say threads? Is that hip??). LOL!
