Color and movement dominated the Oscar Carvallo SS14 collection, shown on January 21st at the Paris haute couture fashion week. The collection is an inspiration and collaboration of two artists, Oscar Carvallo the designer and Carlos Cruz-Diez, the painter. Cruz-Diez create six tableaux (see here and here) for the collection and Carvallo’s creations were all directly inspired from them using fabrics and textiles, prints and construction of the different pieces to illustrate the works of art and bring them to life via the moment of the female body. Christmas gift shopping with the French

Christmas decorations up already at Le Village Royal #Paris. Kinda early non? In Paris, stores often add extra opening hours to their schedule so everyone can have more hours to spend their cash on their friends and loved ones for the holiday gift giving frenzy. But it never seems to be enough for this conflicted hallmark-holiday-poo-pooing population. I can’t even tell you how many French people have said to me over the past decade that Christmas has been over commercialized by the USA, yet there they are squeezed in the boutiques like sardines trying to find the best deal on presents or the perfect indulgence for giving.

Olivia and Olivier explore the tasty treats of Paris.

A chic Parisian girl and her puppy seek out some of the sweet stuff in the City of Lights while strolling around the two city islands in the middle of the Seine. They go from ice cream, to cookies, and stop to smell the roses, and enjoy a sweet café crème before indulging in some Ladurée macarons!

This project has been a while in the making… And I am finally thrilled to show you the result!

So how did this all come about you ask? Well, I’ll tell you! I had offered a prize to be raffled off for charity among a slew of other prizes, at the Paris Cupcake Camp way back last Fall. It was originally merely to be just a small fashion shoot with me and my camera. But it became a big beautiful collaborative effort between several people, and a puppy! It was such fun to come up with the shoot concept, plan it out, scout locations, bring in the talent and create something fun, frivolous and fabulously Parisian with all of these wonderful souls who helped me create this little video.

AND WITHOUT FURTHER ADO… Continue reading

Pieces of Paris

For a long time my blog tag line has been : “Take a piece of Paris and call it yours”.

Lately I seem to have been in a mood to clean up clutter and streamline things. The desire to change it came over me, but I didn’t want to toss out the meaning (that being one of my blog acting as a window to the elements of Paris that I discover, love, hate and want to share with you). So I shortened it up and made it shiny : “Pieces of Paris” is my chic new motto.

Pieces Of Paris – part one from Prete Moi Paris on Vimeo.

I made you all a little video while on a Sunday stroll with Chéri, just to illustrate it. This is volume one of a multiple part series (the future parts have not yet been made, they will be spontaneous and colorful (weather permitting) and hopefully offer different moods to the different pieces of Paris!
