Yes, oui, oui ouuuui… I can’t help myself, when I am asked to kindly be a bridal model for a day, how can I possibly say non?!? Spend the day at a castle, get my hair and make-up done by THE BEST beauty artist I have ever met, wear a CUSTOM MADE dress!!!!! Prance around in front of a camera, and dwell among pretty things all day, not to mention creative women?!? Who would say no to that?!?
Halloween is here, and although I didn’t find the inspiration to write a post concerning this fun holiday, I DID however find plenty of inspiration through my lens at a lovely little chocolate shop near my neighborhood. Formerly known as Charpentier, my in-laws often go there to get chocolates because they have known the owners for years and because they are super accommodating about my dairy intolerance. Whenever they want a special dairy-free chocolate treat for me, they request a made-to-order creation, pour moi! Pretty nice in-laws huh!?! Continue reading
I wrote about where Lily and I lunched recently, and I also feel compelled to share another place with you all, where we went for champagne. This must be the absolute best terrace in the entire city of Paris. At the hotel Raphael, they have a beautiful lofty terrace with the most stunning views in the city. On one side of the 7th floor terrace, you get an eyeful of the Arc de Triomphe and the Sacre Coeur, and on the other the Eiffel Tower glows at you from a short distance, and there is a delightful breeze that caresses you up at this height.
So as you can imagine, getting a table required a little bit of patience on this hot summer evening when the who’s who of French business and journalism sipped cooling cocktails while discussing business with partners, and ultra chic tourists and Parisians pouted and pursed over champagne.
A year ago I was kissing Chéri and saying “Oui!” to him for life!
I had been planning on investing in a little something for Chéri and I…but I had not committed to anything yet. And then, I was innocently wandering down a lovely street in the Marais, my mind on things like home décor and an “apothicary style” dinning room… I was minding my own business, when this store just came up on the trottoir and literally PULLED me in! I am not kidding you! I had no part in it whatsoever. None.
And when I was in there, I was really only going to look. REALLY!
Oscar Carvallo returned to the inspiration of his home by the sea, which he said inspires all of his work really. He worked metallics and lace, shimmering ladies of the sea waltzed on assured sea-legs down the catwalk at the Shangri-la luxury hotel ballroom.

So an article from the Huffington Post about the Pont des Arts as the most romantic spot in Paris has inspired this piece or series of pieces. It got me thinking that although the Pont des Art is quite romantic, there may be people out there with a different idea of the most romantic spot in the City of Light (and love).
My friends at Osez Le Romantisme have compiled a list of the 10 most romantic spots in the city. These are some of the classic most popular spots in Paris, and are, among visitors and tourists, places where they have experienced some of the most amazing moments of their lives. And I agree, who wouldn’t want to be in one of those beautiful spots with the person they love!?!
But the purpose of these pieces is to dig into the idea of “the most romantic spot in Paris”, on a more personal level. Through my own expereices, I want to encourage you to respond, comment and reply about what you people, readers, Paris lovers and *gasp* Parisians, consider one of the most romantic spots in the city is. (FYI : being Parisian doesn’t mean you are necessarily French, it just means you live here).
A Century of Romance is the title of her collection, and the theme is in,spired by the styles of the Ottoman empire and the Seljuq culture put together with a modern touch. The ancient Ottoman style shows in the ethnic “harem” aspects while the minimalist, art deco and geometric Seljuq elements combine to create a breathtaking collection.

Recently I was graciously invited to join a small panel of bloggers for a presentation of the Serge Lutens make-up line and what he calls the “nécessaire de beauté”. Beauty essentials. I love the Serge Lutens boutique at Palais Royal and have purchased and tested several of his perfumes. I love his work for its originality, it’s search for artistry with a palette of scents, and the way his perfumes can whisk me away somewhere else or invoke a striking emotion. So, of course I was curious to discover what he can do with make-up.
Continue reading
